Laboratoria ci in Bishkek: Artistic practices in investigation of the city


We are pleased to announce the meeting with Diana Ukhina – female curator and researcher From Bishkek, who will tell about the projects of Laboratoria ci as well as about the context of contemporary art and investigation of the city in Kyrgyzstan. The meeting will take place in Kiev, Ukraine on 26 of July at 7 p.m. in the Gallery at DIM MK, Bohdan Khmel’nyts’kyi Street 57B.

Diana Ukhina will introduce methods used by Laboratoria ci for investigation of the city such as: learning of history and transformation of the districts, drifting and photodrifting, and mental maps. For the Laboratoria ci artistic practices in investigation of the city are the strategy of reopening of the city, and revealing of the senses that give its deeper perception / understanding. Participants of the laboratory consider art as critical discipline which connects research, theory and education, where the transition from an object to an event, to a process, to learning, to immersion is important.

Diana Ukhina is a female curator and director of the Laboratoria Ci. Laboratoria Ci is an interdisciplinary site for art, knowledge and research practice.

The residence in Kiev is within the program of residences of the Platform ART PROSPECT – a one-year pilot project that unites art organizations, artists, curators from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, Platform ART PROSPECT initiated by CEC ArtsLink non-profit organization. Residences in Kiev are hosted by the partners of the Platform – CCA Foundation and Open Place.
