Platform Art Prospect Residency Program

Open Call for Artists and Curators from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan

APPLICATION DEADLINE MARCH 30, 2018

The Platform Art Prospect Residency program provides opportunities for artists and curators to conduct research, create new work, collaborate with the local arts community, and create special projects in partnership with local arts organizations in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Each month long residency is individually designed to enable visiting artists and curators to learn about the local arts community, develop their own work, and share information about their work and culture with local audiences.

The Residency program is a key component of Platform Art Prospect, a project which brings together arts organizations, artists, and curators from ten countries to challenge standard notions of public space, nationality and culture and demonstrate how artistic and social practices can stimulate community engagement and positive change. Platform Art Prospect aims to build a regional network to share information, resources, and practices about the arts and social change and to facilitate international exchange and collaboration through public art festivals, residencies, workshops, and seminars.  Platform Art Prospect is an initiative of CEC ArtsLink, a nonprofit organization with offices in New York and St. Petersburg that promotes mutual beneficial international communication and understanding through collaborative, innovative arts projects.

The Residency program invites applications from artists and curators based in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Preference will be given to artists and curators whose practices demonstrate an interest in engaging the community and addressing social issues. However, artists working in other fields are also welcome to apply. Each residency is specially designed by local cultural organizations in the ten participating countries; detailed descriptions of each residency opportunity are attached. Twenty artists and curators (two from each participating country) will be chosen. All residency costs, including international travel, visa support (if needed), accommodation, studio and production, and per diem will be covered by CEC ArtsLink.

Interested artists and curators can apply by completing the attached application form (see below). Applications will be accepted until March 30, 2018 till 5 pm (GMT+3) for one month residencies between May 1 and November 30, 2018. The list of participants will be announced by April 10, 2018.
